A very important and big news is coming for the common drivers and businessmen of Jharkhand, which can directly impact their pockets and everyday life in the coming days. Amid growing fears of shortage of petrol and diesel in the state, Jharkhand Petroleum Dealers Association (JPDA) has called a very important emergency meeting. Pump operators from across the state participated in this high-level meeting and expressed deep anger over the arbitrariness of the oil companies. Petrol pump owners clearly say that due to irregular supply by oil companies and non-increased commission for years, it is now becoming impossible for them to run their business. After this emergency meeting, it is being speculated that if their demands are not met, then a situation like statewide strike or chakka jam may occur in the coming days.
Petrol pumps are becoming empty due to irregular oil supply, dealers expressed deep displeasure
The biggest issue raised by the association officials attending the emergency meeting was the irregular supply of petrol and diesel. Dealers allege that oil companies are not sending the stock on time as per the demand, due to which petrol pumps are repeatedly running dry in many districts of the state. Especially in rural and remote areas, the shortage of diesel has increased so much that farmers have to wander even for farming. Pump operators say that due to this deliberate slowness in the supply chain, not only the public is getting troubled, but the dealers are also facing huge financial loss of lakhs of rupees every day.
The issue of commission has been stuck for years, pump owners said – now there will be a one-to-one fight
Apart from supply, the second and most sensitive issue of the meeting was the dealers commission on petrol and diesel. The president and senior members of the association expressed their anger and said that in the last several years, oil prices have skyrocketed in the international market, the cost of running petrol pumps (electricity, staff salary and maintenance) has doubled, but the oil companies have not increased their commission even by a single penny. Dealers have been demanding increase in commission under government rules for a long time, but every time they get only empty assurances. There was a consensus in the meeting that now we will not remain silent on this issue and strict steps will be taken to fight for our rights.
After the emergency meeting, the association is preparing a big action plan, know what will be the effect.
After this emergency meeting of Jharkhand Petroleum Dealers Association, now lines of worry have drawn on the forehead of the oil companies and the state government. The core committee of the association is now preparing a final memorandum regarding all its demands, which will be sent to the Chief Minister and the Union Petroleum Ministry. Experts believe that if the oil companies do not rectify the irregular supply within the stipulated time and do not take a positive decision on the commission structure, then the association can take strict steps like ‘No Sale’ i.e. stopping the sale of petrol and diesel. If this happens, the pace of entire Jharkhand may slow down and there may be a shortage of essential goods.
