As soon as he landed at the station, he first saw the condition of platform numbers one and two. After this he did a thorough inspection of the station building, VIP lounge, ticket booking counter, circulating area and passenger waiting room. DRM discussed in detail about the changes and new designs in the coming days through maps with the engineers and senior officials of the construction department present on the spot. Expressing partial displeasure over the slow pace of the ongoing development works, he gave strict instructions to complete the work within the time limit.

A new and wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) is being built at the station, which will make it easier for passengers to move from one platform to another. Along with this, the plan to install lifts and escalators (automatic stairs) for the convenience of elderly and disabled passengers has also been given the green signal. To enhance the beauty of the station premises, attractive lighting, modern toilets, new booths for pure drinking water and better seating arrangements are being made. The circulating area outside the station will also be widened so that there is no problem in parking and movement of vehicles.

During his visit, DRM paid special attention not only to passenger facilities but also to the safe operation and security arrangements of trains. He inspected the signaling room and relay room of Kandra Junction and asked the technical officers to always remain alert. The network of CCTV cameras is being strengthened to keep an eye on anti-social elements in the station premises and ensure the safety of passengers. Apart from this, work related to increasing the length of the platform and maintenance of tracks was also reviewed, so that the way for stoppage of more express and passenger trains here in future could be cleared.
