Under this campaign, about 186 illegal shops and constructions were demolished, causing an atmosphere of stir and disappointment among the traders. This bulldozer action was suddenly started in the morning, and the shops settled here for years were converted into debris. The action was taken on the railway land located from Jugasalai overbridge to Bermamines overbridge near the Chandil branch of South Eastern Railway. Hundreds of small and big shops were illegally operating in this entire area, who had encroached on the railway land. The railway administration had been trying to remove these encroachments for a long time and these shopkeepers were also issued notices several times, but when they were not removed, the Railways had to take this strict step. This demolition drive was started in the presence of a magistrate and heavy police force on the morning of Monday. Due to security reasons, the entire area was converted into a cantonment and a large number of policemen were deployed to prevent any kind of protest or unpleasant incident. Many shops still had stuff, which was tried to evacuate the shops with the help of JCB and Bulldozers. The action affected by this action has now been displaced and has created a crisis of their livelihood. He has demanded rehabilitation and compensation from the administration. At the same time, the railway administration says that this land is its property and it was necessary for their development and security plans to vacate it.
