He believes that how big a star an actor is is not determined by his films worth Rs 100-200 crores. Real stardom can be identified by how he talks to a spotboy or lightman on the set.
‘I judge a star by the way he talks to the spotboy’
Farah Khan says, “For me, how successful someone is is not decided by the box office numbers. For me, real success and respect lies in how polite you are and how you treat people. I judge any actor by how he calls a spotboy. Does he call him ‘Aye’ or addresses him respectfully by name.”
She says that she has learned this quality from some of the biggest and oldest stars of the industry. “You look at Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan or Anil Kapoor. These people are still alive because they are down to earth. They meet everyone on the set, be it the director or a small crew member, with the same politeness.”
‘Today’s actors roam around with an army of 10 people’
Taking a dig at the actors of today’s generation, Farah said, “I see the actors of today, who roam around with an army of 10 people and consider themselves very important. But the real stars, like Jackie Shroff, even today, when they come on the set, they hug everyone, inquire about everyone’s well-being. This is what makes them real ‘stars’.”
