Mathura-Kasganj railway track doubling: For those who frequently travel on the Mathura-Kasganj railway route of Uttar Pradesh, the wait of years is about to end. The problems caused by the delay of trains and single track on this route will soon become history. Railways has expedited the process of doubling this 105 km long track and its survey work has also been completed.

What is this entire project and why is it special?

The railway line from Mathura to Kasganj has been single track for a long time. This means that only one train can arrive or depart at a time. If there is a train coming from the front, then the other train has to wait at the station. For this reason, neither more trains run on this route nor their speed increases.

But now, the Railways has decided to double this entire 105 km track. North Eastern Railway Headquarters, Gorakhpur has also prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project. The survey work has been completed, due to which it has been known where the Railways has its own land and where land will need to be acquired.

Which areas will see growth?

According to the survey, there is little railway land between Hathras, Mursan and Raya, so land acquisition in these areas can be a challenge. Railways will now decide whether to take land at these narrow places and lay a double line or to build an elevated track (track built on pillars).

Another station whose importance is going to increase with this project is Mendu station. There is a lot of railway land near Mendu station and from here this track will also be connected to the busy Delhi-Howrah track of North Central Railway.

How will the common man get the benefit?

Once this project is completed, the entire picture of this route will change:

  • Trains will not be late:Due to double track, trains will not have to wait for crossing, which will save huge time.
  • Speed and number of trains will increase:With the increase in track capacity, more new express trains can be run on this route and the speed of existing trains will also increase.
  • Employment Opportunities:From laying new lines to developing stations, this entire project will also create new employment opportunities at the local level.

At present only 5 pairs of passenger trains and some weekly and tri-weekly trains run on this route. Not a single new daily train has run on this route since 2009. But after doubling, all this will change and the splendor of 11 stations between Mathura and Kasganj will increase. Soon this DPR will be sent to the Railway Board for approval, and work on the ground will start as soon as the approval is received.
