Monsoon rains are once again going to gain momentum in Uttar Pradesh. According to the latest forecast released by the Lucknow Center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on July 29, both the eastern and western regions of the state may see torrential rains along with thunderstorms and strong winds. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain and lightning (thunderstorm) in many districts and advised the general public and the administration to be extra cautious.

According to meteorologists, the weather may remain quite aggressive in the western and eastern parts of the state on July 29. Major districts where warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm has been issued include Noida, Meerut, Mathura, Agra, Kanpur, Kushinagar, Mainpuri, Bijnor, Moradabad, Bareilly, Deoria, Sonbhadra, Aligarh, Mirzapur, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Auraiya. During this period, there is a serious possibility of wind gusts at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour and thunder and lightning at many places.
How will the weather be in the capital Lucknow?
If we talk about the state capital Lucknow, on July 29, there will be dense clouds in the sky throughout the day. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of the city can be recorded around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be recorded around 29 degrees Celsius. Lucknow will remain humid during the day, however, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with occasional thundershowers. After the rain, there will be a slight drop in temperature which will make the weather pleasant. In view of the lightning and the direction of the winds, the residents of the capital have been warned to be cautious.
Rain will continue till August 1: Instructions to administration and farmers
According to IMD’s 5-day weather report, there will be a possibility of intermittent rain and showers over most areas of Uttar Pradesh from July 29 to August 1. Yellow alert has been issued in eastern and western UP for July 29. Although the chances of very heavy rains will reduce slightly after July 30, normal to moderate rains will continue.
The Meteorological Department has issued strict guidelines for protection from lightning and storm. People have been advised not to take shelter under tall trees, electric poles, dilapidated houses and open fields during inclement weather. Along with this, farmers have been advised to avoid working in the fields during lightning and use irrigation and pesticides only after keeping the weather forecast in mind. Local district administrations have also been asked to maintain preparations related to disaster management.
