The cold winds coming from the northern direction have increased shivering in the entire state. There has been a rapid decline in night temperature in the last 24 hours, due to which the effect of cold is clearly felt. In view of the situation, the Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for many districts of the state.
According to Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, the effect of cold wave can be seen in seven districts of the state till November 15. ‘Yellow alert’ has been issued for these districts.
There will be a special impact on these 7 districts
The districts for which the Meteorological Department has issued warnings include:
- Garhwa
- palamu
- Chatra
- Latehar
- Lohardaga
- gumla
- Simdega
In these areas, the minimum temperature may drop further by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, due to which the mercury may go below 10 degrees.
Gumla remained the coldest, mercury also dropped in the capital
Gumla district was the coldest place in the state yesterday, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the effect of cold was also visible in the capital Ranchi and the minimum temperature here was recorded at 10.7 degrees Celsius, which is about three degrees less than normal. In Khunti also the mercury dropped to 8.1 degrees Celsius.
According to meteorologists, this change is being seen due to the icy winds coming from the Himalayas. Due to the clear sky, these winds are directly affecting the plains, due to which severe cold is being felt from night till morning. However, people are getting some relief due to sunshine during the day, but the air remains cool.

The Meteorological Department has also expressed apprehension that there may be dense fog in many areas in the morning for the next few days. This will reduce visibility, which may affect road and rail traffic. Drivers have been advised to take special care in the morning. Doctors have also appealed to children and the elderly to take special care in this changing weather.
