Indore molestation case: A news has come from Indore city of Madhya Pradesh, which has put the entire country to shame. Two players of the Australian team who came here to play the Women’s Cricket World Cup were publicly molested. But the limit was reached when on this serious matter, the state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, instead of cursing the accused, instead gave advice to the victimized players. After this strange statement of his, a new controversy has arisen.
The minister gave a ‘lesson’ to the victims.
When journalists asked Kailash Vijayvargiya questions on this shameful incident, he said that cricket players are very popular in India, so they should be more cautious while going out. He said, “Players should keep in mind that when they step out, their security personnel and local administration should be informed.”
Not only this, while giving advice to the victimized female players, he even said that they should “learn a lesson” from this incident. Meaning, the fault is not of the culprit who misbehaved with the visiting players, but of those players who left without informing.
What is the whole matter?
It so happened that on Thursday morning, two female cricketers from Australia, who were participating in the World Cup, were leaving their hotel and going towards a nearby cafe. Then a young man riding a bike (accused Akil Khan) started chasing them. Seeing the opportunity in Khajrana Road area, he touched one of the players inappropriately and fled from the spot.
But both the players did not lose courage. He immediately contacted his team’s security officer and shared his live location.
Police was quick and accused arrested
Based on the shared location, the police team immediately reached the spot. The wisdom of a passerby came in handy, who had noted down the bike number of the accused. On the basis of this number, the police arrested the accused Akil Khan on Friday. Investigation revealed that several criminal cases were already registered against the accused.
Police have registered an FIR against the accused under serious sections like stalking and insulting the dignity of a woman. Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) has also expressed deep sorrow and anger over this incident.
While on one hand this incident shows the promptness of the police, on the other hand it also raises serious questions on the absurd and insensitive statement of a leader holding a responsible position.
