Lucknow. To make the kitchens of rural India smoke free and to protect the health of women, the Central Government has decided to take forward the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2026 with new energy. Even today, in many parts of the country, women and children are falling victim to serious lung diseases due to cooking on wood and coal. To end this crisis, the government is not only providing free gas connections but is also providing direct financial assistance on every cylinder.

Better health through clean fuel: Initiative of respect for women

Smoke emanating from traditional chulhas is the main cause of eye irritation, asthma and respiratory problems. The primary objective of Ujjwala Yojana is to provide clean LPG to economically backward families.

Women Empowerment: The most special thing about this scheme is that the gas connection is issued only in the name of the female head of the household, which is a big step towards their social and economic empowerment.

Time Saving: Food is cooked quickly on a gas stove, which saves women the precious time that was earlier wasted in collecting wood and sorting out the stove.

‘Dhamaka’ benefits available under the scheme

Many special facilities are being provided by the government to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana:

Free Connection: Eligible families are given a new LPG connection without any security deposit.

Stove and Regulator: First, the government also bears the expenses of gas stove and regulator, so that poor families do not have to bear the financial burden.

Subsidy of ₹300: A subsidy of ₹300 on every gas refill is sent directly to the beneficiary’s bank account. This amount reaches in a transparent manner through ‘Direct Benefit Transfer’ (DBT).
