Within no time the bus started burning and there was chaos in the area. The good thing was that all the children were taken out safely before the flames became severe, due to which a major accident was averted.

According to the information, the bus was carrying children of a private school. Eyewitnesses reported that:
Possibility of short circuit: In the initial investigation, the cause of the fire is said to be short circuit in the engine.
Smoke rising from moving bus: As soon as the bus reached near Nalanda police station area, black smoke started coming out from the bonnet.
Bravery of the driver: The driver immediately stopped the bus and without wasting any time opened the gate and started unloading the children. Local villagers also helped in taking the children out from the windows.

Within minutes of the children alighting, the fire engulfed the entire bus.
