News India Live, Digital Desk: The case of death of a student preparing for NEET in Patna, the capital of Bihar, has created a stir in the administrative corridors. In view of the complaints of human rights violations, Bihar Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance in this matter. The Commission has issued a notice to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna and sought a detailed reply on the entire matter.
What is the whole matter?
This incident took place in a coaching hub area of Patna, where the body of a student preparing for NEET was found in her room.
Allegation of family members: The student’s family has termed it a murder and accused the police of being lax in the investigation and suppressing the case.
Police’s side: In the initial investigation, the police had called it a case of suicide, but after the opposition of the family members and the increasing anger on social media, questions were raised on the direction of the investigation.
Human Rights Commission action
Considering the seriousness of this matter, the Commission has issued the following instructions:
Notice to SSP: Patna SSP has been instructed to present complete details of the investigation report, post mortem report and action taken so far in this case.
8 weeks time: Commission asked police administration to file reply 8 weeks (2 months) Has given time.
Answer on negligence: The Commission has also asked whether the protocol was followed by the police after the incident or not and what steps were taken on the complaints of the family members.
Anger among NEET students
There is a lot of insecurity regarding this incident among the students studying in the coaching institutes of Patna. Students say that there should be strict security arrangements in hostels and PGs and such incidents should be investigated impartially.
