Why is this rise in prices happening?
International market conditions and losses of oil companies are believed to be the main reasons behind the recent increase in fuel prices. According to the Petroleum Ministry, global crude oil prices, which were earlier around $64-65 per barrel, have increased to around $115 per barrel. Due to this huge surge and under-recovery, oil marketing companies are suffering huge losses. The government is constantly trying to ensure that despite global pressure, consumers in the domestic market should not be burdened with excessive burden, but due to the equations of the international market, this revision in prices has been seen in the recent past.
