News India Live, Digital Desk: The heat has started showing its anger in Uttar Pradesh. The month of April is not even over yet and the temperature has started breaking records in many districts of the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe ‘heatwave’ alert for Lucknow and surrounding areas. According to meteorologists, the temperature in the capital Lucknow may cross 43 degrees Celsius in the coming 48 hours, which will make it difficult for people to step out of their homes.
‘Red alert’ of extreme heat and heat wave
According to Lucknow-based Zonal Meteorological Centre, due to weakening of western disturbance and strengthening of westerly winds, heat wave will increase in central and western parts of Uttar Pradesh. The department has issued red and orange alert for the next 3 to 4 days. There is a possibility of hot winds (loo) in the afternoon, the speed of which can be 20 to 30 kilometers per hour. Districts like Prayagraj, Jhansi, Agra and Kanpur will heat the most.
Worst condition in these districts
According to the report of the Meteorological Department, the heat wave will continue not only in Lucknow but in the entire Uttar Pradesh.
Jhansi and Agra: The temperature here is likely to reach 44 degrees Celsius.
Prayagraj and Varanasi: The humid heat will make people miserable in these areas along the banks of Ganga.
Noida and Ghaziabad: The mercury will remain around 42 degrees in these areas adjacent to Delhi-NCR.
Doctors’ advice: Be careful between 12 noon to 4 pm
In view of the scorching heat, the Health Department has also issued an advisory. Doctors say to avoid exposure to direct sunlight between 12 noon and 4 pm. To avoid heat stroke, drink as much water as possible and wear cotton clothes. This heat can prove fatal for school children and the elderly, hence there is a need to take special precautions.
When will we get relief?
The Meteorological Department says that at present there is no possibility of getting relief from the heat for a week. The sky will remain clear and due to strong sunlight the temperature may rise further. However, there is a possibility of dust storm in the first week of May, due to which there may be a slight drop in the temperature, but till then the people of UP will have to go through this ‘Agnipariksha’.
