There is a very exciting news for the lovers of suspense-thriller films. The third part of the film ‘Drishyam’ i.e. ‘Drishyam 3’, famous for its tight script and surprising twists, has been released in the theaters of South on 21st May. This film was originally released in Malayalam language, whose Tamil, Telugu and Kannada dubbed versions have also been released before the audience. However, the audience of the Hindi belt will have to wait a little longer for the Ajay Devgan version i.e. Hindi ‘Drishyam 3’.
Amidst this huge buzz created about the film, its mastermind and director Jeethu Joseph has made a very shocking revelation in an interview. He says that this story of Georgekutty (Vijay Salgaonkar in Hindi) was not completely imaginary, but a true incident that happened between two families of Kerala had put the idea of this timeless film in his mind.
There was actually a fight between two families in the year 2000
Director Jeethu Joseph revealed the secret in a recent interview of Ashirwad Cinemas and said that the story of the film is inspired by a real incident. He said, “I got this idea from a serious rift that happened between two real families. The matter was between a boy and a girl, which later became a big police case. At that time, a person close to me had told me about this incident and said that in this case both the families were right and wrong in their respective positions. The biggest question was, if you were there, whose side would you take?”
Jeetu Joseph further said, “This was in the year 2000, when I had not even become a part of the film industry. I thought that if such a complicated situation is brought on the big screen, then whom will the audience support? Their mind will keep swinging on both sides and this idea later became the script of ‘Drishyam’.”
Jeetu Joseph accepted the mistake of not maintaining ‘balance’ in the first part
During the interview, the director honestly admitted one of the shortcomings or ‘mistakes’ of the first part that he realized after the release of the film. Jeetu Joseph told that he wanted to show both sides equally in the film, but that balance could not be achieved on screen.
Speaking from the perspective of IG Geeta Prabhakar (Tabu’s character in Hindi), she said, “After watching the film, I felt that everyone was only standing with Georgekutty and her family. But if we think deeply, can we really blame that mother (IG Geeta Prabhakar)? Her young son had suddenly disappeared and as a mother she desperately wanted to know only the truth. Her son had never told his mother about her dark deeds. She could not believe that her son could do something like this. From her point of view, Georgekutty was manipulating the law and the police, which was impossible for her to bear. This was the real spark behind this story.”
What will be special in ‘Drishyam 3′? Makers’ big plan for Hindi audience
Regarding ‘Drishyam 3’ which has been released in South, the makers have already made it clear that this time the story is going to be quite different from the previous two parts. While Part 1 and Part 2 showed the war between Georgekutty and IG’s family, in the third part the story is woven around a completely new character and new suspense.
Good news for Hindi viewers: Hindi audiences need not be disappointed. The makers have indicated that when the Hindi remake of ‘Drishyam 3’ comes with Ajay Devgan, its story and climax can be presented in a completely different way, so that the level of thrill and suspense remains fresh and unpredictable for the Hindi audience.
