People of Delhi, the season that everyone was eagerly waiting for has finally arrived! Light sweaters and shawls have started coming out of the wardrobe, because the rosy cold of morning and evening has knocked. The mild sunshine during the day is making this weather even more pleasant.
But with this pleasant weather, an uninvited and dangerous guest has also returned – toxic pollution. The situation is such that Delhi’s air has once again reached the ‘very bad’ category, due to which this mixed weather has become a big challenge for health.
Weather condition: Coldest morning of the season and rain alert!
First of all let’s talk about good news. Cold is slowly showing its effect in Delhi.
- Coldest morning: Sunday morning was the coldest morning of this season, when the minimum temperature dropped to 15.8 degrees Celsius.
- The mercury will fall further: The Meteorological Department says that the sky will remain clear for the coming 3-4 days, due to which the night temperature will fall further.
- Will rain provide relief?: The good news is that a Western Disturbance is becoming active from Monday. Due to this effect, there is a possibility of light rain with thunder in Delhi in the next two days. The coolness of snowfall on the mountains will also reach Delhi soon.
Pollution havoc: ‘very bad’ air
Now let’s talk about the bad news. With the onset of cold, Delhi is once again suffocating.
- AQI crosses 300: Delhi’s average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 324 on Sunday morning, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category.
- ‘Serious’ situation in Anand Vihar: Anand Vihar has once again become the most polluted area of Delhi, where AQI has reached the ‘severe’ level of 430.
AQI condition of some areas of Delhi-NCR:
| place | AQI |
| Anand Vihar | 430 (severe) |
| Jahangirpuri | 370 (very bad) |
| Rohini | 362 (very bad) |
| Gurugram (Sector 51) | 355 (very bad) |
| Vasundhara, Ghaziabad | 345 (very bad) |
The air is expected to worsen further in the next two days. Some relief is expected only when it rains.
So people of Delhi, enjoy this mixed weather, but take care of your health. It would be wise to use a mask especially while going out in the morning and evening.
