The investigating agency claims that they have busted a racket related to illegal trade of cough medicines (especially those which are intoxicating) in UP, which they have never seen before in the history of the state.
It would be wrong to call it just a drug scam, it is a huge Financial Fraud Is.
The Network of 700 Fake Firms
The most shocking thing is that to run this business the fraudsters used not just one or two, but More than 700 fake companies Had prepared.
It sounds like a film story. These cunning people showed such companies on paper which had no existence on the ground. No office, no warehouse, and no real owner. These fake names were being used only to launder black money and illegally consume banned cough syrups (such as codeine syrup).
Why did ED call it a “historic fraud”?
According to the investigating officers, this method of money transaction (Modus Operandi) was so complex that it was not caught in the beginning. The criminals were not only smuggling medicines but also diverting crores of rupees through money laundering.
ED says that:
- This is not just a drug trade but also a systematic banking fraud.
- Using the Aadhar cards and identity cards of poor and innocent people, fake firms were registered in their names and those poor people did not even know that they were the owners of crores (on paper).
Why is this racket so dangerous?
This black market cough syrup is often used to get youth addicted. These medicines, which are actually meant for treatment, are smuggled into the wrong hands. After this revelation, it has become clear that this gang was playing not only with health but also with the economy of the country.
ED has now tightened the noose on this. It has been claimed in the court that the secrets of this case are very deep and in the coming days many big white collar faces may also be exposed.
So the next time you read news about ‘fake companies’ in the newspapers, understand that they are linked to such a deep secret somewhere. The hands of the law are long, and this time they have reached the neck of the mafia.
