News India Live, Digital Desk: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given another big gift of development to his home district Gorakhpur. In a grand program organized on Rapti coast on Thursday, CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 470 development projects worth a total of Rs 1055 crore. During this, he said that Gorakhpur is now leaving its old identity and emerging as a modern and clean city. The biggest attraction of the program was the new eco park built at ‘Ekla Dam’, which was once known as the city’s garbage dump site.

Garbage to Kanchan: Grand Eco Park spread over 40 acres

The Eco Park inaugurated by the Chief Minister is a great example of ‘Waste to Wealth’. This 40 acre land has been converted into a beautiful tourist destination by scientific disposal of about 2.26 lakh metric tons of old waste. Built at a cost of about Rs 5 crore, a special play area for children along with a walking track, yoga and meditation center has been made in this park. This area, once infamous for bad smell and filth, will now become the new ‘lung’ of the city.

Smart city and network of roads will be laid

In this budget of Rs 1055 crore, special emphasis has been laid on improving the connectivity of the city:

CM Grid Scheme: Under this, 6 major roads like Ganesh Chowk to University Chowk and Bettiahata to Shastri Chowk will be developed as ‘Smart Roads’.

Drainage System: To deal with the problem of waterlogging, a storm water drainage system will be built from Gulriha police station to Chilua Tal at a cost of Rs 123 crore.

Green Belt: Under the National Clean Air Programme, Rs 35 crore has been allocated to develop mini forests and green belts in various wards of the city.

‘Clean Schools Campaign’ also started

Along with development works, CM Yogi also launched ‘Clean Schools Campaign’ under ‘Clean India Mission 2.0’. Through this campaign, awareness about cleanliness, water conservation and better behavior will be created among the students. Schools will be given ‘star rating’ on the basis of their cleanliness system, which will strengthen the environment of health and cleanliness along with education.

Problems heard in public darshan

Before inaugurating the projects, the Chief Minister also did ‘Janta Darshan’ at Gorakhnath Temple. He listened to the problems of the complainants from far and wide and gave strict instructions to the officials that the land of any poor or helpless person should not be taken over by the powerful. He said that the priority of his government is to ensure that the benefits of development reach the last person of the society.
