Green wall painted saffron in Pune city: BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra Medha Kulkarni along with party workers painted the green wall in Pune with saffron colour. Now the political atmosphere has heated up in this matter. BJP leader Medha Kulkarni claimed, ‘Walls in the city should not be deliberately painted green.’ Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) leader Sushma Andhare strongly opposed this.
The wall painted by BJP MP Medha Kulkarni is located near Tilak Road in Pune. This wall was yellow before it was painted green. Flowers and incense sticks were allegedly kept at that place, after which a woman MP raised the question. He said, ‘Flowers and Prasad never came here before, how did they come suddenly?’
‘We have removed the green color’
Woman MP Medha Kulkarni said, ‘We have removed green color and used saffron color as a symbol of Hindu pride. This is part of awakening the Hindus. We are proud and will not tolerate attempts to convert such places into religious places or start namaz. He also appealed for protection of land and property while warning against similar activities in other parts of the city.
Uddhav group protested
Controversy has arisen over this incident, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) leader Sushma Andhar has opposed this step of Medha Kulkarni. He asked, ‘Did BJP workers in Pune or Medha Kulkarni show the same concern on issues like women’s safety that they showed while painting on the wall? If public representatives do such things then they should leave politics and concentrate on religious activities.
