Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has launched a scathing political attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Sangh Parivar over the contradictions seen in the statements of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Sharing a scathing post on social media platform ‘X’, Kejriwal quipped that the “common Hindu” of the country is confused whether to listen to the Sangh or follow the rules of his own party’s Delhi government.
Kejriwal raised questions through social media posts
Taking a dig at his official ‘X’ handle, Arvind Kejriwal wrote that Mohan Bhagwat ji is saying that every Hindu should have as many children as possible, while Delhi CM Rekha Gupta ji is saying that if you have more than three children, you will not get the benefit of ‘Delhi Lakshmi Yojana’. He further wrote that poor Hindus are completely confused in this situation, hence both Rekha ji and Bhagwat ji should together clarify what Hindus should do.
The whole matter of conflict of statements and government policies
Actually, this entire political controversy has come to light after two different statements and rules of a new government welfare scheme clashed with each other. Some time ago, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, expressing concern over the declining birth rate and demographic imbalance in the country, had given a statement that in the interest of the society and the country, Hindu families should consider having three or more children. On the contrary, recently the cabinet of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved the guidelines of ‘Delhi Lakshmi Yojana’, under which there is a provision to provide financial assistance of ₹ 2,500 every month to poor women. However, it has been made clear in the terms of this scheme that its benefit will be available only to those families who have three or less children, due to which the difference in policies between the two is clearly visible.
AAP’s double target and political conflict
Making this contradiction an issue, Arvind Kejriwal has made a double target on BJP and Sangh. AAP leaders say that on one hand, BJP and RSS advise to increase the population through ideological platforms, while on the other hand, their own governments implement such policies which deprive large families of government assistance. After this joke, once again a heated debate has erupted in political circles and social media regarding population policy and family planning.
