Here International Congress on AI and Robotics in Smart Agriculture (AIRSA) is being organised. In simple language, it is a Mahakumbh where discussions are being held on how the lives of our farmers can be changed using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics.
Robots in farming? After all, what will they do?
In this conference, scientists told that now the era is going when farmers used to do farming only by guesswork.
- Doctor of disease: Just like a doctor applies a thermometer when we have fever, similarly AI tools and sensors will now tell us about the health of plants. The farmer will get an alert on his mobile even before the crop gets damaged.
- Precise medicine: Often farmers spray too much fertilizer or medicine, which wastes both money and land. Robots will know how much medicine is required by which plant. This will reduce costs.
- Labor problem: In today’s time, laborers are not available in the fields. Robots will be able to do the work which requires a lot of hard work, from sowing to harvesting.
Mathematics of profit to farmers
The main objective of this program is to save farming from becoming a ‘loss-making deal’. If the farmer knows in advance when the weather will be bad, how much moisture is in the soil and which crop will get good price in the market, then his income will automatically increase.
This discussion taking place in Lucknow will not be limited to just one seminar. Efforts will soon be made to extend its benefits to the farmers of UP and the rest of the country. Experts say that in a country like India, where a large population is dependent on agriculture, ‘Smart Farming’ is the only way to progress.
