News India Live, Digital Desk: A big step has been taken towards the increasing crowd of devotees and improving the facilities in the world famous Banke Bihari Temple of Vrindavan. Following the instructions of the High Court, a team of experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has reached Vrindavan to survey the temple and its surrounding area. The main objective of this survey is to find out how better facilities can be developed for the devotees without causing any harm to the ancient form of the temple.
Why was there a need for survey?
The alleys of the Banke Bihari temple are quite narrow. On festivals and special occasions, lakhs of devotees come here for darshan, due to which a huge crowd gathers and sometimes a stampede-like situation is created. A few years ago, many devotees lost their lives in a tragic accident on the occasion of Janmashtami. In view of this problem, a plan was made to build a corridor around the temple and increase the facilities, the matter of which reached the High Court.
What will the IIT team do?
The team from IIT Roorkee, comprising experts in civil engineering, will examine several important points:
- Strength of the temple: The team will first see how old and strong the main structure of the temple is.
- Inspection of surrounding buildings: The condition of the old houses and buildings built around the temple will also be assessed.
- Corridor possibility: The team will also survey how much area is available to build the proposed corridor and how it can be constructed so that there is no threat to the temple.
- Safety of devotees: In the survey, special attention will be paid to what changes should be made so that the crowd can be controlled and the devotees can easily have darshan.
District administration is also with us
Officials from local administration, municipal corporation and public works department are also present along with the IIT team. Everyone is working together to ensure that the survey work is done properly. This survey report will be submitted directly to the High Court, only after which a final decision will be taken on the development of the temple and construction of the corridor.
This survey has brought a ray of hope for lakhs of devotees of Banke Bihari. If everything goes as per plan, soon devotees in Vrindavan will be able to have darshan of their deity in an easy and safe way.
