A great opportunity has come to study from the country’s biggest university sitting at home. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially started the application process for admission to the July 2026 session of all its Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG), Diploma and Certificate courses being run in Open Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Mode.
According to the notification issued by IGNOU, the window for online application for admission has been opened from May 25, 2026. Interested and eligible students can complete their registration by 15th July 2026.
This time ‘APAAR ID’ will have to be ready for admission.
IGNOU has made a big and important change from this session. As per the guidelines of the University, it is mandatory for all students to have their APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry ID) before starting the application process. Without this the application form cannot be completed.

Steps for IGNOU Online Application (Step-by-Step Registration Process)
If you are applying for the first time in IGNOU, follow the steps given below carefully:
1.Checking Course and Eligibility:step 1.
Visit the official website of IGNOU. First of all ‘Available Programme’ Click on the tab, choose your desired course and read its eligibility criteria, fee details and duration carefully. Also download the common prospectus of the university.
2.New Registration:Step 2.

3.Email and Mobile Verification:Step 3.
Fill your active email and mobile number in the registration form. Keep in mind, both of these OTP (One-Time Password) Will be verified immediately through.
4.Creating username and password:Step 4.
own Username Select (must be between 8 and 16 characters). followed by a strong Password Must be alphanumeric (a combination of letters, special symbols, and numbers) and between 8 and 16 characters long.
5.Submit and Login:Step 5.
After filling all the mandatory information ‘SUBMIT’ Click on the button. Your username will be immediately sent to you via email and SMS. Now login to the portal using this username and password and fill your detailed application form.

Fee Payment Methods: You can pay your program fees securely through online modes like Credit Card (Master/Visa), Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay), Net Banking or UPI. Once the documents are uploaded, view the ‘Preview’ of the form and save a printout of it for future reference.
Strict rules for cancellation of admission and fee refund
If a student wants to cancel his/her admission after taking admission, then it is very important to know these rules of IGNOU:
