Los Elections: Munawar Hasan became the youngest member of all four houses

Meerut, 03 April (HS). Munawwar Hasan's family has a prominent place in the politics of Shamli district. Munawwar Hasan became a member of all four houses of the country at the youngest age. This time too, Munawwar Hasan's daughter Iqra Hasan is contesting from Kairana Lok Sabha seat.

The political journey of Hasan family of Shamli district started in 1969, which continues even today. Akhtar Hasan was born in 1930 at Faiyaz Hasan's house in Jandheri village of Kairana region. After this Faiyaz's family came to live in Kairana. In 1969, Akhtar Hasan started his political journey as a member of Kairana Municipal Corporation. After the death of his father in 1990, Akhtar Hasan became the Chaudhary of 84 villages of Muslim Gurjar Khap. In 1971 and 1973, Akhtar Hasan became the Chairman of Kairana Municipality. In 1984, Akhtar Hasan won the Lok Sabha elections from Kairana on Congress ticket.

In 1988, Akhtar handed over his political legacy to his son Munawwar Hasan. In 1991, in the by-election of Kairana Assembly, Munawwar defeated veteran leader Hukum Singh on Janata Dal ticket. Munawwar Hasan was again elected as MLA in 1993. In 1996, he was elected MP from Kairana Lok Sabha seat. In 1998, when BJP candidate Virendra Verma defeated Munnawar Hasan, Mulayam Singh made Munnawar a member of the Rajya Sabha. In the year 2003, SP made Munawwar MLC. At the youngest age of 39, all four became the first politicians to reach the House. His name is also recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2004, he was elected MP from Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seat. Munawwar died in a road accident in Agra in 2008.

After Munnavar's death, wife, son, daughter entered politics

After the death of Munawwar Hasan, his wife Tabassum Hasan was elected MP from Kairana on BSP ticket in 2009. After the death of MP Hukum Singh in 2019, Tabassum again became MP in the by-election. Munnavar's son Nahid Hasan has been MLA from Kairan assembly seat for three consecutive terms. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, SP has fielded Munnawar's daughter Iqra Hasan from Kairana seat.
