When these two things come together, the dish becomes a power-packed combination of taste and health. It is so easy to make that you will definitely make it twice a week.
So come on, let us know the simplest way to make it.
What is needed to make Masoor Palak Dal? (Material)
- spinach: 2 cups (finely chopped)
- Onion: 1 (medium size, finely chopped)
- Tomato: 1 (medium size, finely chopped)
- Garlic Cloves: 4-5 (finely chopped)
- Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
- Green chilly: 1-2 (as per taste, finely chopped)
- Ghee or oil: 2 tbsp
- Cumin: 1 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder: ½ tsp
- chilli powder: ½ tsp (or as per taste)
- Coriander Powder: 1 tbsp
- Garam Masala: ¼ tsp
- Salt: as per taste
- Water: 3-4 cups
The easiest way to make (method)
- Cook the dal: Close the lid of the cooker and cook it on medium flame for 2-3 whistles. While the dal is cooking, we prepare the tempering.
- Make Tadka: The real taste of dal comes from its tempering only. For this, heat ghee or oil in a pan or kadhai. When the ghee becomes hot, add cumin seeds to it. After the cumin seeds crackle, add finely chopped garlic and fry until it turns light golden.
- Fry onions and spices: Now add chopped onion to it and fry it until it turns golden. After this, add ginger-garlic paste and green chilli and cook for one more minute.
- Add tomatoes and spinach: Now add chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook them until they become soft. When the tomatoes melt, add red chili powder and coriander powder and fry the spices well.
- Cook the Spinach: Finally add chopped spinach and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the spinach becomes slightly soft.
- Mix everything together: Open the lid of the pressure cooker after the pressure is released. Now add the prepared spinach and spice tempering in the pan to the boiled lentils and mix well.
- Final Boil: Let the dal boil further on low flame for 4-5 minutes, so that all the spices get mixed well in the dal. Finally add garam masala, mix and turn off the gas.
Your protein and flavourful masoor palak dal is ready! Serve it with hot rice or roti. Adding one spoon of desi ghee on top will double its taste.
