Court questions SBI on not disclosing specific number of bonds
In more detail, the last time the Supreme Court heard about electoral bonds, the court had questioned SBI for not disclosing the specific number of bonds. The court said that SBI should disclose the unique number, as it is bound to do so. Through the unique number, it will be possible to know to which political party the donation was given and who was the person/company who made the donation.
SBI cannot give selective information: Chief Justice
A Constitution bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra heard the issue of unique numbers of electoral bonds. During the hearing, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud told the lawyer Harish Salve appearing on behalf of SBI that we have asked for complete information. But SBI has provided selective information. She can't do this. Regarding this, Salve said that we are ready to provide all the information.
A wrong image is being created about SBI.
Chief Justice Chandrachud said that you cannot wait for our orders for everything that we will do what the court says. You have to understand the order. On this, Harish Salve said that a wrong image is being created about SBI. We want to clarify what was written in the order. We understand that we have been asked to provide the date of the bond, the name of the person purchasing the bond, the amount and details of the person receiving the cash.
Political parties had to tell the Election Commission who donated how much to them.
During the hearing, Salve said that political parties will have to tell the Election Commission who donated how much to them and this information was also given to the court in a sealed envelope. Therefore this information was forced to be revealed. He said that if the bond number has to be given, we will definitely give it. We have no problem with this.
