These days, there is a tough competition between two big films at the Bollywood box office. Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon’s film ‘Cocktail 2’ has completed one week in theatres. Despite the release of Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer comedy ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ on June 26, ‘Cocktail 2’ has maintained its momentum. The new generation i.e. Gen-Z is liking this modern love story very much, whose direct impact is visible on the earnings of the film.
Notes rained at the box office If we look at the initial figures of the film, ‘Cocktail 2’ had earned Rs 13.50 crore on the first day, Rs 16.25 crore on the second day and Rs 17.75 crore on the third day. In its first week, the film had made a total domestic collection of Rs 70.50 crore. Now the figures of the eighth day have also come out, where the film has collected another Rs 4 crore amid tough competition. In this way, the domestic box office collection of the film has now reached Rs 74.50 crore, while worldwide the film has crossed the mark of Rs 122 crore.
Is Akshay Kumar’s film becoming heavy? Akshay Kumar’s ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ is a comedy entertainer, which was expected to have an opening of Rs 20 crore on the first day. Directed by Ahmed Khan, this film has an army of big stars, which is leaving no stone unturned to tickle the audience. But the way Shahid Kapoor’s film is handling itself even on weekdays is praiseworthy. Now all eyes are on whether ‘Cocktail 2’ will be able to maintain its strength in front of the comedy ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ next weekend or whether Akshay Kumar’s film will rule the box office.
