Delhi Weather Today: Will monsoon enter Delhi today? Big update from Meteorological Department amid ‘heat index’ of 47.5 degrees

Delhi Weather Today: People of Delhi-NCR are currently spending their days in a strange dilemma and scorching heat. Every year June 27 is the date when the south-west monsoon makes its official knock in Delhi, but this time the slow movement of clouds has dashed the hopes of the people of Delhi. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has not yet made any official announcement as to when exactly the period of heavy monsoon rains will start in Delhi. However, it is a matter of relief that meteorologists claim that the weather system remains completely favorable for rain in the coming days, due to which there is hope of getting relief from this scorching heat soon.

Amidst this indifference of monsoon, there is such a cocktail of heat and humidity in the national capital that it is difficult for the people to live. On Friday, Delhi’s maximum temperature was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius, which was about 4 degrees more than normal. But the real problem was not the temperature, but the moisture present in the air. At 2:30 pm, Delhi’s ‘heat index’ i.e. the “real feel” reached a dangerous level of 47.5 degrees Celsius. Due to this humidity, it became difficult for people to even step outside their homes, while the minimum temperature at night was also recorded at 28.7 degrees Celsius.

Will this monsoon break the records of previous years?

If we look at the history of the past years, there are continuous changes in the timeline of monsoon in Delhi. Last year, i.e. in 2025, the monsoon had entered Delhi on June 29, a little late than the scheduled time, whereas in the previous year, in 2024, it had reached the national capital on June 28. Meteorologists say that this year too the monsoon has crossed its deadline of June 27, which makes it clear that this time too the people of Delhi will have to wait for the last days of June or the first week of July for the monsoon showers.

New bulletin of Meteorological Department: Monsoon will reach these states in the next 3-4 days

According to the latest weather update of IMD, the pace of monsoon is now gradually gaining momentum in the rest of the country. Conditions are becoming extremely strong for the advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar during the next 3 to 4 days. Along with this, these monsoon winds will also cover many other areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. With the activation of this system, the movement of dark dense clouds in the sky of Delhi-NCR will increase and the expectations of rain will strengthen.

Badra received much less rainfall than normal in the month of June, water crisis increased

Less rainfall in the month of June is considered to be the biggest reason behind this harsh summer. According to the data of Safdarjung, the main meteorological center of Delhi, only 41.8 mm rainfall has been recorded so far in the month of June this year. Whereas in view of the environment and weather of Delhi, it is generally considered mandatory to have at least 74.1 mm of rainfall in the month of June. Due to almost half the normal rainfall, it has had a very bad impact on both the water level and temperature of Delhi. Now everyone’s eyes are on the monsoon rains in early July.
