Paris, September 7 (HS). Hokato Hotozue Sema won the bronze medal in the men's shot put F57 event of the Paris 2024 Paralympics at the Stade de France late Friday night (local time).
The 40-year-old athlete clocked a personal best of 14.65 in his fourth attempt to secure India's 27th medal at the ongoing Paralympic Games.
The Nagaland athlete moved to third place in the standings with his third throw of 14.40 and improved further in the fourth attempt.
The other Indian athlete, Soman Rana, finished fifth with a best effort of 14.07. He was third in the standings when he completed his set of attempts, but dropped down the rankings after better attempts by Finland's Teijo Kupika and Hotoze.
After Hotozze completed his set of throws, his closest rivals were Argentina's Pablo Damian Jimenez and France's Vitollio Kawakawa, but both athletes only managed a best effort of 12.99.
