The lintel of the Diwan Hall collapsed in Sangatpura, 12 people injured | News India

Chohla Sahib: On Thursday, in Sangatpura village of Tarn Taran district, the lintel of the Diwan Hall of a gurdwara collapsed shortly after it was completed. More than a dozen people were buried under the debris of the lintel. After getting information from the people present on the spot and the residents of the area, the administration teams reached the spot and after a lot of hard work, pulled out 12 people from the debris. All were admitted to different hospitals for treatment. On receiving the information, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar, ADC Varinderpal Singh Bajwa and SDM of Khadoor Sahib, police officers also reached the spot. The rescue operation continued till late evening.

Lantern was being installed in the new Diwan Hall of Gurudwara Baba Darshan Das Ji of village Sangatpur. Lantern work was completed. But after some time the entire lintel collapsed. This created an atmosphere of chaos. The Sangat and local residents present on the spot started removing the debris. After a lot of hard work with JCB and other means, the Sangat pulled out 12 people from the debris. Many of them were seriously injured. Khajan Singh, son of Jaimal Singh, village Chung Bhikhiwind, Bikramjit Singh, son Kulwinder Singh, village Rahal Chahal, Love, son Mangal Singh, Sukhdev Singh, son Jeeta Singh and Balbir Singh, son Chanchal Singh, three residents of Pangota village and Gurpal Singh, resident of Bandala village were pulled out from the debris and brought to the government hospital. From where he was referred to the government hospital of Tarn Taran. It is being told that the seriously injured patients were also referred to Amritsar. Due to the possibility of some more people being buried under the debris, the rescue operation continued till late evening.

On receiving the information, SDM Khadur Sahib Sachin Pathak reached the spot and said that the seriously injured have been taken to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. On the discussion of other people being buried under the lintel, the SDM said that no such thing has come to light. Nothing can be said right now about the reason for the collapse of the lintel.

On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar issued a message saying that the death in this accident has not been confirmed. Administration teams are carrying out rescue operations with the help of the community. 12 people have been rescued from the debris and admitted to different hospitals in Tarn Taran and Amritsar.
