1.29 crore students and 10 hours of Maha-Pariksha; Compared to this 'brutal' exam of China, India's JEE-NEET also seems very easy.

When it comes to exams like IIT-JEE, NEET or UPSC in India, they are counted among the toughest exams in the country. Students do hard penance for years for this. But do you know that there is such an exam in the world in front of which all these competitive exams of India appear very easy? We are talking about China’s National College Entrance Examination i.e. ‘Gaokao’. This year, this mega-examination has started in China, in which this time a record of more than 1.29 crore students are trying their luck. It is considered to be the most stressful and difficult examination in the world.

10 hours tough exam in two days

The schedule of this ‘Gaokao’ examination of China squeezes the mental and physical capacity of any student. This examination runs for two consecutive days, in which students have to sit in the examination hall for a total of about 10 hours. During this, Chinese language (Mandarin), Mathematics, English and the student’s chosen subject (Science or Humanities) are tested. The questions asked in it are so complex and complex that even the most intelligent students lose their temper. The score of this examination decides whether the student will get admission in the top universities of China or his future will be spent in an ordinary college.

Speed stops in the country, ‘no honking zone’ is imposed

Gaokao is not just an examination, but becomes a national event for the whole of China. To ensure that students do not face any kind of disturbance during the examination days, the Chinese administration completely diverts the traffic on the roads around the examination centres. In many cities, ‘No Honking Zone’ is declared near the examination centres, that is, there is a heavy fine for blowing the horn. Even construction works and all noisy activities are completely banned. Police vehicles and ambulances are kept ready on the roads so that there is no delay to any student going to take the exam.

Such a guard of technology and security that even a bird cannot kill

It is difficult to imagine the level of security that the Chinese government adopts to prevent cheating in this examination. Facial recognition technology, fingerprint scanners and drone cameras are used at the examination centres. Hi-tech signal jammers are installed within the examination hall so that no electronic device can function. You will be surprised to know that if a student is found cheating on a large scale in this examination or involved in paper leak, then under Chinese law he can be directly sentenced to jail for up to 7 years.

Why is it more difficult than India’s JEE and NEET?

India’s exams like JEE and NEET require students to compete for the country’s premium institutes (IITs and AIIMS), but the ratio of seats to applicants there is still different from Gaokao. In China, among more than 1.29 crore applicants, the race to get a place in top universities like Tsinghua or Peking University is so cut-throat that only 0.2 percent students are able to get success in it. Due to this examination, the mental stress among the youth of China increases to such an extent that it has been named ‘the most cruel examination of life’, which directly decides the entire career and social prestige of a student.
