Youth murdered due to illicit relations, three arrested:

Medinipur, 09 January: Police has exposed a sensational murder case in Keshpur police station area of ​​Paschim Medinipur district. Police investigation has revealed that a young man was brutally beaten to death after he was allegedly caught in an objectionable situation with a stranger woman. The deceased has been identified as Shishir Mallik, resident of Mirpur village.

According to the police, on December 23, a women’s football tournament was being organized in Vishwanathpur area under Anayetpur Gram Panchayat of Keshpur block. Meanwhile, Shishir Mallik reached Urmila Hembram’s house when her husband Sunil Hembram was not present at home. It is alleged that Sunil’s friend Santu Mallik saw Shishir entering Urmila’s house and informed Sunil over the phone.

As soon as Sunil Hembram received the information, he reached home and allegedly lost his temper after seeing his wife in an objectionable position with Shishir. It is alleged that first he beat his wife and then along with Santu Mallik, he beat Shishir badly. Police claim that Shishir died on the spot after being beaten by both of them.

After the murder, in order to hide the evidence, the accused took the body to the bank of Kansai (Kangsabati) river at some distance from the house late at night, dug a pit and buried it. On January 5, local people saw two dogs scratching repeatedly in the sand on the river bank, which raised suspicion. On receiving the information, police reached the spot and after digging, Shishir’s body was recovered.

Police said that Shishir was missing since December 23. A missing diary was lodged by the family members at Keshpur police station on 29th December. Earlier on January 2, Shishir’s bicycle was also recovered from Kansai/Kangsabati river. On January 6, post-mortem was conducted at the mortuary of Medinipur Medical College.

During the investigation, the police have arrested Urmila Hembram (25), her husband Sunil Hembram (30) and Santu Mallik (30) as accused in this case. On Thursday, the three accused were produced in the Medinipur court, where the judge ordered them to be sent to three-day police custody.

Confirming the entire incident late Thursday evening, a senior district police officer said that preliminary investigation has revealed the involvement of these three accused. It is also being investigated whether any other person had any role in this incident.

Bahadur Mallik, brother of the deceased, said, “Even if his brother had committed some mistake, it is not justified in any way to kill him. He demanded the harshest punishment for all the accused.”
