By expanding the scope of this scheme in the year 2026, the government has not only increased the financial assistance but has also made the application process completely digital and transparent. What is special in PMAY 2026? Know the big changes

The government has upgraded the scheme at both budget and technical levels:

Urban Areas (PMAY-U 2.0): The target is to provide permanent houses to more than 1 crore families. Now by increasing the central assistance ₹2.50 lakh Has been done till now. Besides, the facility of interest subsidy for the middle income group (MIG) has also been simplified.

Rural Areas (PMAY-G): By increasing the amount of assistance for hilly and difficult areas ₹2 lakh Has been done till now. Apart from this, separate amount for toilet construction and benefit of wages under MNREGA is also available.

Digital Tracking: Now there is geo-tagging of the progress of your house, due to which the payment of installments reaches your account directly without any delay.

Eligibility Criteria: Who can avail the benefits?

The benefit of the scheme will be available only to those families who fulfill these conditions:

Do not have a permanent house: There should not be a permanent house anywhere in India in the name of the applicant or any member of his family.

Income Range: * EWS: Annual income up to ₹3 lakh.

LIG: Between ₹3 lakh to ₹6 lakh.

Priority: Widows, single women, physically handicapped and SC/ST families are given preference in selection.

ownership: It is mandatory to own the house in the name of the female member of the household or jointly.

How to check the new beneficiary list (Beneficiary List 2026)?

If you had applied earlier, you can see your name in the new list:

Rural (PMAY-G): official website pmayg.nic.in Go to. Click on ‘IAY/PMAYG Beneficiary’ in the ‘Stakeholders’ section. Enter your registration number or download the list by selecting state, district and block.

Urban (PMAY-U): portal pmay-urban.gov.in Go to ‘Search Beneficiary’ option and enter your Aadhaar number. If your name is in the list, your details will appear on the screen.

Application Process: Fill the form online in 5 minutes

Urban Application: official website pmaymis.gov.in Go to and select ‘Apply Online’ under ‘Citizen Assessment’. Login with Aadhaar number and fill your details (Income, Address, Bank Account).
