News India Live, Digital Desk: If you live in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, you must have realized that walking on the streets here is no less than winning a battle. Traffic jams and encroachment have spoiled the appearance of the city. But now Ranchi administration has decided to make the city a little ‘open’ and ‘clean’.
Recently, the ‘yellow claw’ (bulldozer) of the administration roared fiercely in the main business areas of Ranchi. Let us know where the blame fell this time and what are the future plans of the administration.
Not suddenly, but action taken after warning
Ranchi Municipal Corporation and the local administration had for a long time instructed the shopkeepers to vacate the road space and footpaths. When people themselves did not move, the administration was forced to take strict action. During this time, a lot of police force was also seen deployed on the streets so that any kind of protest could be handled in time.
Stairs and sheds of shops became targets
During the action, more focus was given to those shops which had built their concrete platforms towards the main road or had surrounded the road by installing iron stairs. Large signboards placed haphazardly outside the shop and carts installed illegally were also removed. Seeing the bulldozer coming, some shopkeepers themselves started collecting their goods, while some just kept watching, rubbing their hands.
Relief to general public, shopkeepers a bit disappointed
Common citizens believe that such strict action was necessary to beautify the city. If the roads remain wide, traffic will flow smoothly and people will save time. On the other hand, shopkeepers are a little disappointed and worried because the structures built by them have been demolished, which is likely to impact their business a bit. However, the rules are same for everyone.
Strong message from administration
Municipal Corporation officials say that this is not just a one day action. The administration wants Ranchi to be kept clean on the lines of a smart city. Those who stop traffic by setting up shops on the road will no longer be spared. If encroachment occurs again, legal action can be taken along with fine.
our opinion
The city belongs to all of us and it is our responsibility to keep it clean. If we follow the rules, perhaps there will be no need for bulldozers. With this step of the administration, it will definitely be a little easier to walk on the main road and other crowded areas of Ranchi in the coming days.
What do you think? Will just running bulldozers end the encroachment forever or should there be a more permanent solution? Be sure to give us your opinion in the comments!
