Working with stars means waste, Kiran Rao told why it is easier to make films with new actors

News India Live, Digital Desk: While everyone in Bollywood dreams of working with big stars, well-known filmmaker Kiran Rao has given a statement which has sparked a new debate in the industry. After the success of her recent film “Missing Ladies”, Kiran Rao has said that working with new and inexperienced actors is much easier and less expensive. He also explained in gestures how the “tantrums” of big stars and their pomp and show can spoil the budget and atmosphere of the film.

Kiran Rao, who is known for her quirky films, shared her experiences in a recent interview. He told that new artists have a different hunger and passion for their work.

Why are new actors Kiran’s first choice?

Kiran told that new actors remain completely dedicated on the set.

• “Less Waste”: He said, “Fresh actors are less wasteful.” This means they understand the value of time and resources. There is no frills or big entourage with him, as is often the case with big stars, which includes a manager, make-up artist, hair dresser and many assistants. All this weighs heavily on the film’s budget.
• Easy to operate: According to Kiran, “He is very easy to work with.” The new actors completely trust the director’s vision and are ready to go to any extent to get into the character. They have an eagerness to learn and do not show any demands or tantrums on the set.
• More time and dedication: New actors give their full time to the film. He is always ready for workshops and is completely available during the shoot. At the same time, big stars have many projects simultaneously, which creates a lot of difficulties regarding dates and time.

Casting of “Missing Ladies” was a big challenge

Kiran also admitted that it was not easy to find the right faces for a film like “Missing Ladies”. They auditioned thousands of girls across the country to find the right and real looking actors for their roles. The lead actors of the film, Nitanshi Goyal, Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Srivastava, are all newcomers to the industry but have won everyone’s hearts with their performances.

This statement of Kiran Rao raises questions on the glittering aspect of Bollywood, where the names of the stars are given more importance than the story of the film. He has proved that if the story is strong and the actors are talented, then the film does not need a big ‘Khan’ or ‘Kapoor’ to be successful.
