The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in many parts of the state during the festival days. In such a situation, rain can be disturbed in the celebration of Durga Puja and Dussehra.

According to the Meteorological Department, a new cyclonic circulation being built in the Bay of Bengal will also affect the weather of Jharkhand. Due to this system, moisture in the state will increase and rain activities will intensify.

How long will it rain?

The Meteorological Department estimates that the rainy season may begin from September 30, which is likely to continue till Dussehra i.e. 3 October. This means that you may have to face rain on the main days of Durga Puja, ie Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Vijayadashami.

Which areas have heavy rain alert?

The most impact of this weather system can be seen in the southern and central parts of the state. The Meteorological Department has specifically issued a warning for these areas:

• Southern Jharkhand: East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur), West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
• Central Jharkhand: The capital Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh and Gumla.

In some places in these districts, there is a possibility of heavy rains as well as strong winds and thunderstorms (lightning). In addition, light to moderate rain may also occur in the north-eastern parts of the state like Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara and Giridih.

Relief for farmers, concern for organizers

While this rain can prove to be nectar for paddy crop, Durga Puja is pulling the lines of concern on the foreheads of the organizers and artisans. The organizers may have to make additional arrangements to make puja pandals waterproof and deal with water logging.
