News India Live, Digital Desk: There have been many such beliefs in our society for centuries, which people still believe. One of these very interesting and surprising belief is that snakes never cut a pregnant woman, but run away from it. You too must have heard this from the elders of your house.
Some scientific arguments are tried behind this belief, while some very interesting mythological stories are also associated. Even today, people in villages and towns consider this to be completely true. Let us know what reasons are given behind this unique belief.
What do you say logic?
Those who believe in scientific reasons behind this belief, they make some such arguments:
- Hormone changes: It is said that during pregnancy there are many types of hormonal changes in a woman’s body. Due to these changes, a special kind of smell comes out of their body. Snakes are very sharp in smelling, and this changed and unfamiliar smell can make them uncomfortable, so that they consider it better to stay away.
- body temperature: It is also believed that during pregnancy, the body temperature of the woman increases slightly from normal. Snakes are cold -blooded creatures and maybe this increased temperature of the body forces them to stay away.
- Two ‘creatures’ one body: A popular belief is that snakes consider that there are not one, but two creatures in the body of a pregnant woman. Seeing or feeling this ‘unnatural’ situation, they get scared and do not attack.
What is the mythology behind it?
The most famous story behind this belief is associated with Lokdevata Goga Dev (also known as Jaharveer Gogaji). According to the story, Goga Dev’s wife was pregnant. One day when she was walking in the garden, a snake bites her. When Goga Dev came to know about this, he was filled with anger.
He started reciting such a mantra with his powers, from which all the snakes of the world started falling into a boiling oil. Seeing the destruction of the entire Nag caste, King Nagraj Vasuki of the serpents appeared. He apologized to Goga Dev and revived his wife.
It is said that at the same time Nagraj had also promised to Goga Dev that after today no snake will ever bite any pregnant woman nor will it harm her. It is believed that since then snakes stay away from pregnant women.
