Ramchet is the same person whom Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met during his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ and was getting him treated for his illness. Despite treatment, he could not be saved.

A meeting that became memorable

This entire incident happened in February this year, when Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ had reached Sultanpur. Here, near the Congress office, Ramchet Mochi used to work as a shoemaker for the last 40-50 years. During the journey, Rahul Gandhi’s eyes fell on him and he could not stop himself. He went straight to Ramchet and started talking to him.

During the conversation, Rahul Gandhi came to know that Ramchet was not well and due to some throat problem, his voice was not coming out clearly. Due to poverty, Ramchet was not able to get himself proper treatment.

Rahul Gandhi had taken the entire responsibility of treatment

Seeing Ramchet’s condition, Rahul Gandhi immediately extended his helping hand and took full responsibility for his treatment. He instructed local Congress leaders to admit Ramchet to PGI Hospital in Lucknow. After this his treatment started. Rahul Gandhi not only kept giving instructions, but he also kept talking to Ramchet and his family over the phone to inquire about their well-being.

Family members told that he was being treated in Lucknow as well as Delhi, but his condition was not improving. Ultimately, he lost the battle of life. After the death of Ramchet, local Congress leaders reached his house and expressed condolences. This story has become an example of a beautiful relationship between a big leader and a common man, which had a sad end.
