News India Live, Digital Desk: The round of allegations and counter-allegations always continues in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, but this time Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has taken a sharp taunt on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati through a tweet (now X), which is being discussed a lot. In fact, during a BSP rally in Lucknow, Mayawati unexpectedly praised Yogi Sarkar, after which Akhilesh got a chance to take a dig.
Why did Mayawati praise Yogi government?
On the occasion of the death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, a mega rally was organized at the Kanshi Ram memorial site in Lucknow. On this occasion, after paying tribute to Kanshi Ram, Mayawati fiercely attacked the opposition in her address. During this time he praised one work of Yogi government. Mayawati said that unlike the SP government, the current BJP state government did not withhold the money collected from tickets of people visiting the rally venue, but spent the entire amount on the repair of the memorial. He said that he was ‘grateful’ to the Yogi government because it used the BSP’s money properly.[1],
Akhilesh Yadav’s taunt: ‘Internal collusion continues!’
Soon after Mayawati’s statement, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s reaction came. He made a tweet (ex-post) without naming anyone. Akhilesh wrote: “Because ‘their’ internal collusion continues. That is why they are grateful to the oppressors.” This tweet was directly pointing towards some alleged ‘inner nexus’ between Mayawati and Yogi government, which has heated up the political circles.
Special points of Mayawati’s address
- Targeting the opposition: Mayawati attacked ‘casteist parties’ like Congress, BJP and SP. He said that when the BSP government was formed with full majority in 2007, the faces of these parties were exposed and they together conspired to stop the BSP from reaching power at the Centre, for which the ‘remaining stone’ was fulfilled by the EVM.
- Attack on Congress: Taking aim at the Congress, he said that the Congress insulted the Constitution by imposing emergency and never truly respected the Dalit community. He also accused the Congress leaders of ‘theatrics’ by taking a copy of the Constitution.
- Accusations on SP: Mayawati accused SP of ‘open oppression’ of Dalits and backward classes, termed law and order as ‘broken’ and said protection was given to ‘goons and anarchists’, which created an ‘atmosphere of fear and anarchy’. She also accused Akhilesh Yadav of not talking about building a memorial of Kanshi Ram while in power, whereas now he is saying so. He appealed to be cautious calling SP as ‘double-minded people’
- Dream of Dr. Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram: Mayawati mentioned Dr. Ambedkar’s dream that Dalits and backward people should unite and take the ‘master key of power’ in their hands. He claimed that BSP accomplished this by forming a coalition and a government with absolute majority and worked on the policy of ‘Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaay’
The BSP President stressed that his party is not just a political party but a ‘movement’ which is struggling to provide respect and rights to the oppressed classes and no matter how many conspiracies the opponents may hatch, the BSP movement will never bow down.
