News India Live, Digital Desk: BJP MLA Yogesh Shukla from Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) assembly has come forward with serious allegations against an inspector and constable of Mahingwa police station. Accusing the police of corruption and arbitrariness, he staged a protest with his supporters at the police station. The matter came to light when MLA workers and local people accused the policemen of unfairly demanding money and harassing them. After the immediate intervention of the police officers, two policemen were deployed and investigation into the matter has been started.

What is the whole matter?

BJP MLA from BKT Yogesh Shukla reached Mahingwa police station directly with his supporters on Thursday evening and sat on strike there. Referring to two main incidents, the MLA made allegations against the policemen.

The first case is related to one of his workers, Ajay, who is the nephew of Hanumantpur chief Shankar Lal Singh Chauhan. The MLA told that Inspector Dhirendra Rai confiscated Ajay’s motorcycle, even though he had all the documents complete. It is alleged that due to the recovery, the documents of the motorcycle were not sent to the court for a week, due to which Ajay was very upset and was continuously visiting the police station. When the MLA spoke to Inspector Dhirendra Rai, the Inspector reportedly told that he had to meet the ‘target of challan’, so he issued the challan.

The second case is of a person named Ganesh from Paharpur, whose mobile was stolen. The police had recovered his mobile, but the constable and computer operator Pappu Kushwaha were demanding two thousand rupees to return the mobile. The MLA expressed clear displeasure regarding this matter.

MLA’s protest and intervention of officials

MLA Yogesh Shukla said in clear words that until action is not taken against the guilty policemen, he and his supporters will not leave the police station. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, DCP North Gopal Krishna Choudhary took immediate action. He spoke to the MLA on phone and after that the accused Inspector Dhirendra Rai and computer operator Pappu Kushwaha were put on the line with immediate effect. DCP said that a detailed investigation of this entire matter has been handed over to ACP BKT and based on his report, further departmental action will be taken against both the policemen.

After this incident, once again the allegations of corruption in the police administration seem to be becoming serious. The hope of both the public and the public representatives is that there should be a fair investigation in this matter and strictest action should be taken against the culprits.
