People living in Uttarakhand have started feeling slight cold, but now get ready for the real winter. The weather has taken a sudden turn in the mountains, due to which we may have to face severe cold in the coming days. The reason for this is the Western Disturbance active in the Himalayan region, due to which there has been rain as well as snowfall in the high altitude areas. Its direct effect is now visible on the weather in the plains as well.
How will be the weather ahead?
Light snowfall and rain on the higher peaks have brought down the temperature. The Meteorological Department says that today the weather will be dry in Uttarakhand, but it may remain cloudy at some places in the hilly areas. Light clouds will be seen in the sky in the capital Dehradun also. Even though the cyclonic storm ‘Montha’ did not have any significant impact on Uttarakhand, the activity of western disturbance has increased the cold.
The weather condition in the state was similar on Tuesday also. Due to western disturbance the weather remained changeable. Dehradun and its surrounding areas were cloudy since morning. The sun also came out from time to time, but this did not reduce the cold. There was even light rain amid the clouds in the hilly areas.
The temperature dropped further and the shivering increased.
Talking about the temperature, in many areas of Uttarakhand, the day temperature has seen a drop of up to 5 degrees Celsius, while the night temperature remains close to normal. On Tuesday, the day temperature in Dehradun was 28.3 degrees and the night temperature was 16.2 degrees Celsius. Whereas in Udham Singh Nagar, the mercury was recorded at 25.4 degrees Celsius during the day and 18.3 degrees Celsius at night. On the other hand, in Mukteshwar the day temperature reached 13.6 degrees and night temperature reached 8.7 degrees Celsius.
