Was suspended for going to London without permission

The government has accepted the resignation of Alankrita Singh, a 2008 batch IPS officer of UP cadre, who had gone to London without permission four years ago. Alankrita went to London in 2021 without the government’s permission, after which she was suspended. She gave this information to ADG Women and Child Protection Organization on WhatsApp call.

Who is Alankrita Singh?
Alankrita Singh, resident of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, was a 2008 batch IPS officer. Alankrita, born on 4 October 1979, has done MSc in Maths. Following his mother’s inspiration he decided to join civil services. His last posting was as SP in Women and Child Protection Organization (1090).

In 2017, he was also posted as Deputy Director at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. However, he was later sent back to the UP cadre.

Suspended from going to London in 2021
On October 19, 2021, Alankrita Singh told through WhatsApp call that she was in London. After this he was suspended and held guilty of indiscipline and negligence. During suspension, he was attached to the Director General of Police Headquarters.

Alankrita’s husband Vidya Bhushan also got VRS
Alankrita Singh’s husband and 2008 batch IAS officer Vidya Bhushan had also taken voluntary retirement (VRS) in 2023. He has been the District Magistrate (DM) of districts like Pratapgarh, Amethi and Etawah of Uttar Pradesh. Vidya Bhushan worked on important positions like MD in Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam and Director in LBSNAA.

Steps towards a new beginning in London
Alankrita and her husband Vidya Bhushan have now moved towards a new life in London. His resignation and retirement gave rise to discussion, especially regarding the balance between personal and professional life of senior officials associated with the administrative services.
