News India Live, Digital Desk: Biggest government hospital of Jharkhand Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Dark clouds are beginning to loom over health services. RIMS doctors have opened a front against the government regarding their pending demands. Resident Doctors Association (RDA) and faculty members have made it clear that if their demands are not met, then 6 April They will stop work completely and go on indefinite strike. This warning has given sleepless nights not only to the hospital administration but also to the state government, because RIMS is burdened with patients from all over Jharkhand and neighboring states.

On what demands are the doctors of RIMS adamant?

The main reason for this resentment of the doctors is the long pending promotion, payment of arrears and removal of discrepancies in the seventh pay scale. Doctors say that they have been expressing their views peacefully for the last several months, but are getting only assurances from the government and management. Now doctors have adopted a ‘do or die’ situation. They say that despite the huge work pressure, they are being deprived of their legitimate rights, which is now unbearable.

Patients may become distressed from April 6

If doctors go on strike from April 6, OPD, emergency services and routine surgeries of RIMS may come to a complete halt. Thousands of patients come to RIMS for treatment every day. The announcement of this mass leave and strike of doctors will create a life-and-death crisis for those poor patients who cannot afford private hospitals. However, the association has said that they do not want to go on strike, but the government is forcing them to do so.

Efforts for reconciliation between government and administration intensified

After receiving the threat of strike, the Health Department and RIMS Director have come into action. According to sources, a high level meeting can be called with the doctors’ delegation so that the strike can be averted. RIMS management is trying to find a middle path before April 6. At the same time, the eyes of the general public are also fixed on the stand of the government, because a strike in an institution like RIMS means the collapse of the health system of Jharkhand.
