Waqf Amendment Act: President Draupadi Murmu finally approved the Bill passed by Parliament on 5 April 2025 to amend the Waqf Act. This bill has become a law since then. After this, the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025 has officially come into force from today (April 8, 2025). The Central Government has issued a notification in this regard. Thus, now this law will be applicable throughout the country and at the same time this law will replace the Muslim Waqf Act before independence. Meanwhile, another petition has been filed against the government’s amendment in the Waqf Act.
Hearing in Supreme Court on 16 April
The Supreme Court has decided to immediately hear the protest against the Waqf Amendment Act. The Supreme Court will hear the matter on 16 April. Muslim religious organizations, including opposition leaders, have appealed to the Supreme Court against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 of the NDA government.
