News India Live, Digital Desk: After the results of Bihar Assembly elections, while on one hand there is celebration of victory, on the other hand churning is going on over the reasons for defeat. Meanwhile, strategist Prashant Kishore (PK), who contested the elections with his ‘Jan Suraj’ party, has broken his silence on the defeat. The reasons he has enumerated capture the pulse of Bihar politics, which has always been talked about.

Even though PK’s party could not win even a single seat, he has raised such questions regarding the results, which has sparked a new debate in the political circles.

People were dominated by the fear of the return of ‘Jungle Raj’

Prashant Kishore has cited the fear of ‘Jungle Raj’ as the biggest reason for his defeat.[1] He said, “Many people were angry with the current government and wanted change, but at the last moment they started fearing that if their vote was divided, the ‘old days’ might return.” According to PK, people felt that if they voted for a new party like ‘Jan Suraj’ then Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party would directly benefit from it and ‘Jungle Raj’ would once again return to Bihar. This fear reduced the anger against the government and people voted for the NDA, albeit with a heavy heart.

Money was spent like water in elections

PK has also alleged excessive use of money power in the elections. They claim that just before voting, money was sent directly to the bank accounts of women. He said that this was done despite the Model Code of Conduct being in place, which had a direct impact on the results.]This is a serious allegation that raises questions on the fairness of the electoral process.

“Something is wrong”, questions raised on results

Prashant Kishore also said that the election results were completely opposite to the feedback he had received from the public during the months-long march. He clearly said that he has no evidence of election rigging or EVM malfunction, but the figures that have come do not match the ground reality. He feels that some “invisible force” was also at work.

Even though ‘Jan Suraj’ could not win any seat, the party got about 2 to 3 percent of the votes and on more than 35 seats it won more votes than the margin of victory or defeat. Prashant Kishore has said that this is not the end but the beginning and he will continue his fight for Bihar.
