News India Live, Digital Desk: The violence that broke out during the procession on the holy occasion of Ram Navami in Garhwa district of Jharkhand has created tension in the area. The police administration has taken a strict stance after the violent clash and heavy stone pelting between two groups in the Meral police station area of the district. Police have so far arrested 20 people while taking action against elements trying to disturb the peace. Heavy police force is deployed in the entire area and the administration is continuously patrolling to keep the situation under control.
How did the violence erupt? Eyewitnesses said what they saw with their own eyes
According to the information, the dispute started when the Ram Navami procession was passing through a fixed route. Meanwhile, some anti-social elements pelted stones at the procession, after which both sides came face to face. The miscreants not only pelted stones but also tried to damage vehicles and public property. As soon as information about the incident was received, senior police officers reached the spot with heavy force and dispersed the crowd by lathicharge.
Identification through CCTV and video footage
Garhwa SP has formed a special team in view of the seriousness of the matter. Police say that apart from the 20 people arrested, the help of CCTV cameras and mobile video footage installed around the incident site is being taken to identify other miscreants. The police have given a clear warning that those who disturb harmony will not be spared under any circumstances. The administration has also kept a close watch on social media so that any kind of misleading news or rumor does not spread.
Section 144 imposed in the area, peace committee meeting continues
As a precaution, the administration has imposed Section 144 in the affected areas and gathering of people at one place has been banned. Top officials of the district are holding a meeting with the members of the peace committee so that peace can be restored by establishing dialogue between the two sides. An appeal has also been made to the local people not to take the law into their own hands and cooperate with the administration in maintaining peace. At present the situation is said to be tense but under control.
