Varanasi Flood: Close to Ganga danger mark, many ghats submerged, likely to rain again in UP in next 2 days

Varanasi: All the major ghats of Varanasi have been submerged due to the rise in the water level of the Ganges river. The river is only slightly below the warning level, which has increased anxiety in many low -lying areas. According to the Water Commission report, till 8 am, the current water level of the Ganges river was 70.12 meters, while the warning level is 70.26 meters. On Thursday, water entered the police post and Ganga temple on the upper stairs of Dashashwamedh Ghat. These areas were immediately evacuated. Water has entered the narrow streets at the Manikarnika Ghat, causing shops to be closed. Boats were used to move the area and provide relief to the people. The funeral of the dead bodies is being performed on the roofs due to the water being filled with water on the ghats. Long queues were seen for the funeral. Local people are afraid of spreading the disease, in the meantime, people are having trouble breathing due to dirty water accumulating in flood affected areas on the banks of the Varuna river. Also, there is a fear of water borne diseases. Due to the inverted flow of the Ganges, the flood waters of the Varuna river are spreading through the drains in new areas. Flood waters have entered many houses in the areas like Kaarpur, Chamlia Basti of Pulkoha, Salarpur railway line and Danialpur. The residents are troubled not only with water, but also with dirt and unbearable smell. Salarpur railway line, Rasulgarh, Pulkoha and Chhoti Masjid are the same situation. North Uttar Pradesh was sunny in many areas of Uttar Pradesh updated, despite intermittent cloudy on Saturday. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the state is less likely to rain. However, some districts of western Uttar Pradesh may have thunderstorms. There is a possibility of change in weather in the coming days and after 2-3 days, rain may start again in 20 to 25 districts.
