Last month, students staged a huge protest at the university campus during the visit of State Education Minister Struant Basu. Some students allegedly surrounded them, attacked them and even vandalized the minister’s car. We were initially allowed last year, but it was rejected due to protest. This time, we have sought permission and are adamant on our decision.”

Banerjee also questioned the university’s decision to allow iftar party to organize a party a few days ago. He said, “This time we will not back down.” “If people can celebrate Iftar inside the university, then why can’t we celebrate Ram Navami? We will take legal action and will deal with whoever tries to stop us.”
