There is tremendous turmoil in the politics of Punjab these days. A big update has come out regarding the security of former veteran cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh, who left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Following the fierce protest by AAP workers outside his residence in Jalandhar, the Union Home Ministry has taken strict action and provided him VIP security of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Punjab Police withdrew security, Center sent CRPF guard
Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh is among the seven big leaders who have recently left the Aam Aadmi Party under the leadership of Raghav Chadha and taken up the flag of BJP. Immediately after this major political defection, on Saturday, on the instructions of the Punjab Government, the police had withdrawn its security from his residence located in Chhoti Baradari area of Jalandhar. About 9-10 Punjab Police personnel were deployed in this security circle. However, in view of the political tension and danger, armed CRPF personnel were seen ready outside his house on Sunday itself. According to sources, now CRPF will take over the security of ‘Bhajji’ in both Delhi and Punjab.
AAP creates ruckus outside house, ‘traitor’ written on walls
Enraged by the defection, Aam Aadmi Party workers on Saturday protested outside the houses of Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal and Rajinder Gupta. The anger of the protesters was so uncontrollable that they wrote ‘traitor’ with spray paint on the walls of the houses of these leaders in Ludhiana and Jalandhar. Seeing the increasing protests and uproar, the central authorities had to immediately intervene and additional security was provided to Harbhajan Singh. This incident shows how much the conflict between the two parties has increased after high-profile political defections.
Revolt of 7 MPs shakes politics, Bhagwant Mann gets angry
Let us tell you that last Friday, a total of 7 Rajya Sabha MPs including Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak surprised everyone by making a big announcement of leaving AAP. This rebel group includes Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal, Rajinder Gupta, Swati Maliwal and Vikramjit Sahni. Raghav Chadha alleges that the Arvind Kejriwal led party has completely deviated from its core principles and moral values, hence they are all merging into BJP as one faction. At the same time, after this shock, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has openly declared these seven leaders as ‘traitors’. CM Mann launched a scathing attack and alleged that BJP is conspiring to break the Aam Aadmi Party and these leaders have betrayed the trust of the people of Punjab.
