Bhopal, 05 January: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will review the National Highway projects of Madhya Pradesh in New Delhi today. Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh, senior officials of Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and officials associated with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will attend the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that a meeting will be held today under the chairmanship of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to give new impetus to the expansion and strengthening of the National Highway Network in Madhya Pradesh. The National Highway projects in Madhya Pradesh will be reviewed in the meeting to be held at 5 pm at the Bharat Mandapam complex in New Delhi. This will further strengthen the coordination between the Central and State Governments. It will also prove to be an important step towards providing better, safe and convenient road infrastructure to the common citizens.
Dr. Yadav said that the National Highway projects being operated and proposed in Madhya Pradesh will be reviewed in the meeting. Especially those projects which are affected or pending due to land acquisition, environment and forest clearances or other reasons, special emphasis will be laid on ensuring timely resolution by discussing them in detail, so that the construction works can be speeded up.
According to the Public Works Department, currently 33 works are in progress under the National Highway Authority of India and 28 works under the National Highway in Madhya Pradesh. Thus, a total of 61 projects related to national highways in the state are currently under implementation. In the review meeting, the status of the proposed and ongoing National Highway projects under the Annual Plan 2025-26 will also be discussed in detail, so that timely implementation, quality control and coordinated monitoring of the projects can be further strengthened in the coming financial year.
It is noteworthy that the total length of national highways in Madhya Pradesh is more than 9,300 kilometers, which plays an important role in the state’s economic progress, industrial development, tourism expansion and smooth and safe transportation system. The future national highway development plans of Madhya Pradesh will also be discussed in the meeting, so that road connectivity in the state can be made more extensive, safe and modern.
