
The second phase of Kanpur Metro has been completed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate five new metro stations on 24 April. After this, the people of Kanpur will be able to travel 16 km from IIT to Kanpur Central Railway Station in just 28 minutes.
IIT to Kanpur Central in 28 minutes
From the beginning of this new section, a 7 km journey from Motijheel to Kanpur Central Railway Station will also start. This new route will have five new stations including Chuniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Square, Nayaganj and Kanpur Central.
Kanpur’s busiest route will be covered
The new metro section will pass through the busiest areas of the city. Naveen Market is the main market in the city, while Nayaganj is the largest wholesale market in the city.
Underground from Nayaganj to Central
The section of about 5 km from Nayaganj to Kanpur Central will be completely underground. This will provide relief to people from jam.
Fare will be only 40 rupees
For this 16 km journey, passengers will have to pay only 40 rupees fare. The fare list of the metro is as follows:
- Till 1 station – 10 rupees
- Up to 2 stations – 15 rupees
- 3 to 6 stations – 20 rupees
- 7 to 9 stations – 30 rupees
- 10 to 13 stations – 40 rupees
Total 13 metro stations
With the first and second phase, there will now be a total of 13 metro stations:
IIT, Kalyanpur, SPM Hospital, Kanpur University, Gurudev, Geeta Nagar, Rawatpur, LLR Hospital, Moti Lake, Chuniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Square, Nayaganj, Kanpur Central.
